Well, our little shoot has been making the headlines – this time in Venue magazine. It’s great to see the images in print even though our other feature has not yet been published – Elsie Riley’s owner, Katie was so pleased with the pix that she is using then as her own promotional images now – praise indeed!
Fancy getting away somewhere a bit off the beaten track but are so skint even the moths flying out of your purse are anorexic? Well I have been mugging up on some great cheap but oh so chic places to stay…prepare for some serious glamping!
Jolly Days Luxury Camping – Village Farm, Scrayingham, North Yorkshire, YO41 1JD – 01759 371776
Forget memories of mud, slugs and dewy sleeping bags, at Jolly Days you can live like a fashionista and still channel a little bif of Darling Buds of May without looking like you have been dragged through a hedge backwards. Nestled in the picturesque surroundings of the Yorkshire countryside and only a stone’s throw from the city of York, choose a luxury tent with four poster bed or a charming bell tent. Everything has a vintage vibe from the Roberts radio to the home-made jams in the breakfast area – simply fabulous!
They also run some great special offers too and you can stay for free if you are willing to pitch in and do some maintenance work about the campsite; from clearing brambles to putting up bird boxes – hard work never seemed like so much fun!
Prices start from £14.20 per person per night for lodge tents and £15.80 for Bell tents (check with website for seasonal price changes!)
Nestled in amongst Yorkshire woodland, La Rosa caravan and camp site is great for retro lovers. The beautiful red and white striped circus style marquee is a great spot for night-time get-togethers as are the open fire pits where you can sip spiced cider or mulled wine while free-style guitar playing is positively encouraged! Meals are also available on site too. Prices start from £28 per person per night including bedding, gas, candles and fire wood.
Ok, so if vintage is too tea cakes and treacle and you want more of a kitsche vibe, thenVintage Vacations may be more your bag. Located in a field on a working dairy farm on the Isle of Wight it’s only a 10 minute drive from Newport so you can still get your shopping fix. You can even choose your own quirky caravan and they are all American style beauties.
If you fancy something a bit more bricks and mortar, you can opt for The Bungalow, the Shack or The Mission – seriously stylish.
Prices for caravans start from £140 for weekend breaks and £325 for week-long stays, but check with the website for all pricing options. Oh and FYI, they also have a cool Etsy shop where you can snap up some excellent retro goodies…happy glamping!
Here are a few sneaky pix from last weekend’s photoshoot at Elsie Riley. We sweltered in the heat down in the basement and I feared the make-up I’d so carefully applied was going to melt off, but the models, Katrina and Rhea were just brilliant, helped of course by the excellent photographer of Elena Goodrum. I hope you enjoy them!
