Adoring all things vintage, retro and downright quirky

Monthly Archives: July 2010

Oh how darling! These lovely little paper flowers by Dutch stationery designer, Jurianne Matter are beautiful – and cheap! Her kits come with a variety of different flowers in various colour combinations and have all sorts of uses: You can thread Blom flowers on a string to create cute floral bunting or jazz up your fairy cakes as well as making a bouquet by pressing the flowers out of the A5 card and threading them onto traditional florist wire.

These packs can be bought in lots of places but check out Berry Red. Each contain 3 cards printed with 5 mixed flowers (15 easy pop out flowers in total) + 4.50 m florist wire. Diameter of each flower is approx. 6 cm. Kits cost £8.50.

I am a real fan of typography, and have blogged about this in the past, but I just wanted to share with you a couple of great finds – thanks to my all-time fave design magazine, Livingetc. for the heads up on these…

I actually bought the teatowel at the top of this post the other day – it’s from Tate Online and costs £8.50. It’s going into a frame and will take a space up on my orange wall of interest.

What about this! Another superb example of typog in action – this little beaut costs £75 unframed from Keep Calm Gallery. Pricey but worth it! I really like this one too – sums it all up in one sentence – and a great sentiment to hang on the kitchen wall too! A bit cheaper at £16 unframed – again from Keep Calm Gallery.

I just bought a set of these white Matryoshka measuring cups for £9.99 at Bristol’s coolest gift-shop-type -emporium ‘Iota’ – it doesn’t have a website, but does have a Facebook page. Now I can bake my cakes in style! But while I was browsing for an online supplier, I came across Fred & Friends – a rather quirky little shop that stocks unsual and humorous products to make your home look good and put a smile on your chops.

I particularly like the ‘Foot in the door’ door stop (frustratingly prices are not listed next to the product – i believe you have to purchase through their outlets including Amazon and Fredflare.com) but well worth a browse.

I also found some other Matryoshka measuring cups in technicolour, but for quite a bit more (£28) at Antropologie:

I am totally in love with their bedding section too…have a look (if you dare!) Also in their sale section, they have this exquisite tea set, plucked from the very depths of the ocean! Feel like a mermaid while having a brew…only £7!

One last Matryoshka inspired bit of loveliness: How about this bunting? Cute eh? It costs £22 and can be found in Hunky Dory Home.

And their beautiful cushion too…(£22) Now that’s enough 🙂
