Adoring all things vintage, retro and downright quirky

Monthly Archives: March 2011

As a Bristol based journalist and blogger, I must give a well deserved nod to one of the best up and coming blogs on the fashion circuit: Bristol Fashionista – not only is it sharp, witty and on the nail when it comes to fashion know-how, it is THE place to go to get a good dose of style, Bristol fashion.

If you are local to the Bris, or even if you’re not, check ee out.

If you want some cute vintage-inspired jewellery, look no further than Elsie Belle. I came across this little lovely at a craft fair last Christmas and meant to blog about it then, but never got around to it.  From lockets to rings, I love the cute attention to detail, the delicate woodland-creature-adorned necklaces, a nod to the current obsession in interiors for animalia.

I have picked out a couple that caught my eye – and they are really well priced to boot! At the top is the Florence pendant –  a 1950s Japanese pearlised porcelain cabochon mounted onto a raw brass floral locket. Fill with keepsakes or photos of your loved ones. £16.95

The Littlest Things locket is also uber-sweet. You can choose a vintage enamelled bird or butterfly cabochon. £13.95.

Oh God! Don’t you just LOVE these oversized clutch bags by Nigerian designer, Dolapo James- who also goes under the name of Urban Knit. They cost £79 and the vibrant mix of Englishness and African textiles just works. I am coveting one of these – badly!

I spotted them on The Shop Project (theshopproject.com) but I warn you – you will get addicted – it is my fab find of the moment.

After a wee absence – I am back and how better to return than with this mucho retro poster from ‘I Love Retro’.

It’s a limited edition letterpress poster – 12 x 18 inches – printed in hand mixed ink and I think it would look fabulous on my ‘wall of interest’. A snip at £24.95. There are loads of other great things on this website so do have a look!
