Adoring all things vintage, whimsical and downright quirky

Vintage Verity

I am a journalist by day and an avid fan of anything vintage, retro and unusual the rest of my time.

I wanted to create a space where I could share my ideas, inspiration and encourage others to do the same. This wee blog is my window to the world of creative expression – I do hope you enjoy it – and come back soon!

All over the place from Textiles Express in Oswestry, Shropshire to my local fabric shop in Kingswood, Bristol. In my latest post there is more info on one of my fave textile designers Alexander Henry too. Thanks for the kind words too!

Hi! I love your site and was very pleased to see that you have featured our link on it! We have quite recently added couple of new interesting brands to our range. ISAK trays (go to: http://www.cloudberryliving.co.uk/isak-33-b.aspx) and Sami Rinne Design angel/bat/reindeer mugs (go to: http://www.cloudberryliving.co.uk/sami-rinne-design-34-b.aspx). Sami Rinne is very popular on the continent and we are the first and only ones to sell his products in the UK.
    Kind Wishes,
    Anne/Cloudberry Living

Hello hello I found you because I’m looking for vintage lace in Berlin (for my wedding dress!) and your site comes up. Can you help me? Would you know of anyone that might be able to help me?
I love the ideas on here and I look forward to browsing for much longer!

    Hi Verity

I found your site whilst trying to determine whether Cath Kidson sells Kitsch, Chic or Vintage products. My wife has recently setup her own company selling what she calls Kitsch homeware and accessories but I’m still confused as I still associate Kitsch with some pretty tacky stuff and I think ‘most’ of her items (most of which she makes herself) is quite tasteful.

Perhaps you and your readers wouldn’t mind giving it a review, any feedback is useful. You can find the site at http://www.sparklypinkdesigns.co.uk

I’ve read a couple of your articles, short and sweet and to the point, you obviously know what you are talking about. Thanks for the education, I’ll keep reading and maybe I’ll have a clue one day.

    Cheers

    Mark

Thank you for your very kind words on my site! What were you thinking in relation to the Tea Party idea, organise a day of craft stalls and cake, like it. I have an obsession with Tea Parties and an obscene collection of crockery, so by all means drop me an email and we can talk as I was looking at organising an event at some point (wedding out of the way). I like the idea of bringing the craft and quintissential British Afternoon Tea together……

So many pretty things! I love vintage and I’m trying to find a retro hair and makeup artist in the South West (I’m in Exeter) If it’s not too cheeky, have you got any recommendations?

    Hi Verity,

Love the site, I stumbled across it searching for Bristol based writers.

I’m trying to find different writers and bloggers based in Bristol that would be willing to contribute to our site ActivBristol. It is an information website for Bristol and I think you would be perfect for adding some articles on the best places to shop in Bristol etc.

If you (or anyone else reading this) are interested then please contact me johnruddock82 at googlemail.com

Hi Verity, I recently discovered your fantastic blog, being a fan of design and the exquisite art of pattern.

I thought you might like to see an animation I recently produced based on an exhibition of post war British textiles at the Copenhagen Design Museum. The idea was to bring the patterns to life with the aid of motion graphics in a dynamic and intriguing way.

You can see the video here: https://vimeo.com/76688645

I’d love to know what you think.

    Thanks for watching, Gavin Edwards.

Hello! Beautiful blog. I thought, as you were interested in vintage things… you may also be interested in vintage stories from Bristol.

Gas Girls is about the women who made Mustard Gas in Bristol during WW1. An original piece of theatre created by acta community theatre and 20 local people. After sell-out preview week, the show is being taken on tour across Bristol in June. All tickets only £3.

See the trailer here – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hesRqrE8NHg

Please get in touch if you would be interested in hearing more 🙂

    Thanks for your time.
