Adoring all things vintage, whimsical and downright quirky

I’m a bit late to the party on this one, as I wrote this post back in September but life got in the way and I didn’t get around to publishing it. That said, this trend is not going anywhere! Whether it’s panda pillows, budgie bedding, polar bear pottery or elephant…well everything, animals are HUGE in interiors. Here is my pick of some lush lovelies I’ve seen around and about….

Animal head vases and wall hanging plant pots from £35 from Audenza
Flamingo shoes £290 from Charlotte Olympia
Percy the Pelican dish £21 from Graham and Green
Rabbit magnifying glass, £24.95, Graham and Green
Art House Elephant wallpaper in aubergine, £13.99 per roll from Go Wallpaper
Zebra Tea for One, £10 from Next
Darwin Gold or Black Monkey Pendant Lights, £61.99, Dowsing and Reynolds
Brown bear reusable printed recycled cotton lunch bag £16.91 from Oh Little Rabbit on Etsy

Spring is sprung (well practically) and I have been looking about for some inspiration that is on trend for the season but also fantastically feminine and floral. Fortunately, as the title of this post suggests, bows, blooms and butterflies are all HUGE in the world of fashion and interiors this season. If you fancy jazzing up your spring wardrobe with something that is a key piece for Spring, then you can’t go far wrong pinning on a huge corsage – while there are lots dotted about in the high street shops, I have found some good sources – check out VVRouleaux for luxe ribbons and flowers – ok so you may pay a bit more but it will totally be worth it. They also have these pretty boxes of butterflies – another hot fave this season.VV Rouleaux box of butterflies

Another prettiness you can’t fail to notice are our feathered friends who are appearing on everything from dresses to wallpaper. Dutch by Design have captured the essence with these beautiful bird Salt and Pepper holders designed by Chris Koens and if that wasn’t enough beautiful bird cup set by Bud Design are just too cute.Bird cups

While Ohs and Bows (see top image) are a great source of ribbons and corsages but as a US company, you will have to pay shipping.

My advice is to take advantage of this feminine frivoity before sludgy greys and neon brights take over again. Why not nip out with your camera and snap your own inspiring images, after all nature is the originator of most things in fashion and interiors.

Heart padlockWell I must say, finding nice things to put on here has not been that tricky as there seems to be no end to the wonderful websites on the web devoted to all things gorgeous.  First images are from bedecked which is a must visit shop for any aspiring seamstresses as they have a great range if trimmings and an excellent haberdashery – I’ll be adding them to the fave links in due course. I particularly Pink heart pendant - bedeckedlike this cute peachy pink heart pendant and the ever so weeny heart padlock at the top of the page. I have also been browsing on one of my fave interiors websites,  Twentytwentyone. They have just brought in some amazing new stuff and  if I were a rich girl na na na na na na na na na, I would most definitely buy these uber funky anime style ‘Wrongwood’ drawers by British artist Richard Woods and designer Sebastian Wrong (geddit?)

Funky drawers Also making it to my eye candy hit list for today is this rather lovely umbrella again from twentytwentyone. It is designed by Chris Kable at Droog Design and gives a dappled light effect but personally, I like the wee birdy perched  on top best – makes me think of summer sipping shandy in the garden or the smell in the air after a good old April shower. Ah!

Now for the last installment of deliciousness, here are some AMAZING bags by new designer Emma Burton (under the name of Elbo.) I totally recommend having a browse on the site, if only for inspiration.

My new passion is birds – I am currently making lots of little bird brooches to pin onto your bag, blazer, trench coat, scarf, whatever. I am on the hunt for powder coated pins and haven’t had much luck yet.
