There’s nothing quite like a dollop of good ol’ fashioned Victoriana to get my eyes twinkling – and this wonderful little Etsy shop certainly does the trick for me. Let me introduce you to Mamas Little Babies – Santa Cruz based jewellery designer whose work is inspired by Victorian era images, particularly animals, gardening and textiles. If you are after something a little bit unusual to adorn your lapel/neck/ears/bag, then look no further.
The Polly brooch (above) really caught my eye – it’s a great price too at £12.99 as did the Soiree necklace (top image) – a very respectable £18.83 – but my favourite has to be the Victorian scissors brooch – just the right side of quirky and a snip (!) at £12.99. Free worldwide shipping too, donchaknow!
I have been promising for ages to blog about some of the super-cute products for babies and children with a design slant for those mummies who prefer a bit of edge rather than the schmaltzy stuff that is on the highstreet. So first up is an excellent site I subscribe to called Project Nursery – it’s great for getting inspiration for your own little one’s rooms and I often find a new online boutique to check out. The stunning nursery below was created by one of the PN members – now that’s how to do pink!
Another great site that has caught my magpie eye recently is ModGenes Designs – and Etsy store – this talented lady creates customisable prints for your little tinkers – there are some really funky designs.
The images above are totally my cup of tea, but if I was choosing one for my little Elsie Valentina, it would be these beauties…
ModGenes Designs are all fully customisable and cost around a tenner a print. Created by Lori, an art therapist who works primarily with children and adolescents who have been diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder, the company is based in the States but will ship over to the UK. I reckon it makes a change from all the pink fluff you usually get! Happy browsing!
Cheesecake Vintage is a must for anyone who loves their skirts flirty and fifties with a side order of chic. It’s an Etsy store and more, and one I just had to flag up. Take this blue milinary netting, so pretty – only $12 and you can add it to your favourite hat.
This 1960s black, mod, mini-dress is so cute and would be a great option for the modern LBD. And you can’t argue with the price-tag -$54!
Here’s one more I picked out, a 1950s sun dress – it really embodies the era for me. Some vintage is a bit hit n miss and you would look out of place wearing it today, but this is so fresh and cute, I could see lots of office workers sitting about in the summer sun having lunch wearing this type of dress wih some ballerina pumps. Peachy! Again only $38 – bargain!
