Wedding season kicked off last month big time for The Blusherettes. We have had some gorgeous vintage-loving brides, lots of hair and makeup trials and August is shaping up to be our busiest month for weddings.
Last weekend we were at Twist Wedding Fayre at The Flaxmill Maltings in Shrewsbury. This alternative wedding event allows different suppliers that work with brides and grooms who are certainly not vanilla in their tastes. We fitted in perfectly. Here are a smattering of the looks we created for the event…

I’ve been very busy with The Blusherettes lately, my vintage hair and makeup business which has been going from strength to strength since launching last year. My fellow Blusherette, Charlotte and I really wanted to showcase our signature style so we organised a 1960s-inspired shoot with some local suppliers and above are the results.
We wanted to capture the timeless romance and classical style of this iconic era, obviuosly this is helped by the hair and makeup but it’s the little details that we wanted to bring to it to show brides out there that you can be a modern girl and love vintage – it’s not fusty and dusty, it’s bright, chic and will never date!
We chose a dress that was reminiscent of something that would’ve been worn by the likes of Racquel Welch. Our model’s tiara also channels the period beautifully, and in the ‘after the wedding’ shots, she’s wearing items made from beautiful vintage fabrics that have been designed using 1950s and 60s style items as a template.
Of course the incidentals, like the beautiful bouquet in bright orange blooms, the gorgeous cake in fresh mint and white, and the quirky yet classic hand-stamped cultery also added to the vibe. Finally the invitations carry a retro colour palette that we felt helped create the right vibe for this fantastic era.
I hope you like it!
